Welcome back to another thrilling season here at The Naked Bootleg. You’ll have to pardon me for the length of this column, but there is a lot to talk about, and even more to get excited about.
What is there to be excited about? Conference realignment is at the forefront of many people’s minds, at least for a dozen teams over the next two years, and only Mike Slive knows beyond that, but what else? How about a wide open Big Ten race (and no, you will not see me refer to it as the B1G, that shit ain’t happening), TCU vs. Boise State (even though the game was stolen from Ft. Worth), and the continued resurgence of 90s powers Florida State, Washington, and Texas A&M.
Of course, the world has continued to exist since the final tick out at Glendale. There were plenty of sad events such as the baseball season starting, the government fucking us just a little more each day, and yesterday’s passing of a college football legend, Bubba Smith. Seriously, the man was a monster. If you only remember him as Hightower from the Police Academy movies do yourself a favor and hit youtube and look for videos of Bubba’s career at Michigan State. He is a major reason they went 19-1-1 over his last two years in East Lansing.

It's our first episode back after the Thanksgiving holiday, so we may sound about 20 pounds heavier this week. Since we are just coming out of our food coma, things also may be a little, oh…unpolished, perhaps. What is certain is that there are some exciting games this week to look at, and as usual, we will be previewing each of the conference championship matches. These games include:
Southern Methodist @ Central Florida (C-USA championship)
Northern Illinois @ Miami (OH) (MAC championship)
Oregon @ Oregon State
Auburn @ South Carolina (SEC championship)
Florida State @ Virginia Tech (ACC championship)
Oklahoma @ Nebraska (Big 12 championship)
