At the risk of putting a great season-long record in jeopardy, Woodrow herein provides you a total play on all 35 (yep, they’ve managed to get 70 tms into bowl gms) bowls, starting with three for tomorrow 12/18.

12/18/2010
UTEP v. BYU (New Mexico Bowl, Albuquerque) (Under 50’). Two tms O rank #72 and #80, respectively. UTEP has been dormant for four wks, so expect a sluggish start. 10 of BYU 12G TY under 49 ttl. Take away the 144 pts Cougars laid on three inept D (CSU, UNLV and NM) and the unit avg a paltry 16 ppg (no gm > 25).

Northern Illinois v. Fresno State (Humanitarian Bowl, Boise) (Under 58).   NIU has lost its HC and the teams will be forced to play in sub-freezing temps with 80% chance of snow. 5 of FS L7 ttl </= 51.

Ohio v. Troy (New Orleans Bowl)(Dome) (Over 57). Trojans have scored 30+ in 9 of 12G, while allowing 27+ in 8 of 12G. Troy ttl D and score D are #93 and #92, respectively. Bobcats scored 30+ in 7 of L8G. Tms played ULL and BGSU TY and ttls were similarly high (55 and 69; 57 and 64).

12/21/2010
Louisville v. Southern Mississippi (St. Peteresburg Bowl) (Dome) (Under 57). QB woes abound for Cards and L6G all ttl </= 53. Both tms off for 25 days. SMS 4 non-conf gms ttl </= 54 (avg 42 ppg), while 7 of 8 C-USA gms ttl 57+ (avg 79 ppg).

Utah v. Boise State (Las Vegas Bowl) (Under 60). UT QB out and Broncs may likely be down after their fall from BCS champ contenders to LV Bowl also-rans. BSU ranks in top-6 in all D categpries and just didn’t allow pts to anyone other than NV and VT. UT didn’t score much (20 ppg) v. tms w/ winning rec, while scoring 51 ppg v. tms w/ losing rec. UT scored 16 ppg L4G and 8 of 12G under 60.

Navy v. San Diego State (Poinsettia Bowl, San Diego) (Under 60’). SDSU had to play v. the same O v. AF and it was a 27-25 battle, which is what one should expect here. Navy will control the clock and play just enough D to keep the high-octane Aztec pass O in check.

Tulsa v. Hawaii (Hawaii Bowl) (Under 73). Both tms can score in bunches, but HI had 9 of 12G </= 73, and TULS had 7 of 12G < 73. This will be relatively high-scoring affair, but it will wind up around 68 (38-30).

FIU v. Toledo (Little Caesars Pizza Bowl) (Detroit) (Dome) (over 56’). Panthers L5G all 55+ ttl, and FIU has scored 27+ in 7 of L8G. Rockets have ignited for 30+ in L5G and ttl 55+ in 5 of L7G. Ford Field seems to spark tms (other than the Lions) to score a bunch of pts, too
