Pre-season Worst of the Worst Is On It’s Way

Greeting Bootleggers. While the rest of the civilized sports world is studiously assembling their pre-season top 25 picks, forecasting Heisman winners, and speculating which D1sprogram will be the next to have one of their players arrested on assault charges, we at the NBL are taking a step back to admire mans earlier efforts at climbing out of the primordial ooze and standing upright. No I’m not talking about the evolution of man, I’m talking about something much more fascinating and with much more immediate significance. In this section, so aptly called “Worst of the Worst” we will be taking a look at the the schools who remembered to schedule games this season, but forgot to put a team together. And of course, the list will change each week as some schools will remember it’s football season and show up on Saturday, while  some who were previously hiding somewhere in the middle, will sink right to the bottom of the porcelain throne. So be sure to check in with us here at the NBL to find out just how bad it really can get.

NBL Preseason Top 20 Coming Soon

With the 2008 season kicking off in about a month, pollsters, analysts, journalists, fans, and hacks everywhere will inevitably release their pre-season top 25 picks. We at the NBL strive to be different and cutting edge, so that is why we will not be releasing a top 25 poll this season. We instead will be releasing a top 20 poll! Yes, we are truly ahead of our time and leading the industry in innovation. But seriously, the contributors to the NBL will soon be releasing their pre-season Top 20, at which point we will all be able to see how truly overrated the Georgia Bulldogs are in the eyes of the rest of the industry…my apologies for the bias comment, but hey, they are polls, and polls are by definition, biased.

Welcome to the NEW Naked Bootleg Website

Hello Bootleggers! It is about that time of year again. No, I’m actually not talking about the start of football season, I’m talking about changing the website. For those of you that have been joining us here at thenakedbootleg.com since its beginning, you know that we started out pretty bare bones. Last year we decided we needed a bit of a redesign, so we did, but to be honest, we rushed things a bit and never were able to implement all the features or design elements we had hoped for. Also due to the amount of time that Randy and Eric spend on writing articles and recording podcasts, little time was left over to invest in the site itself or the user experience. This year however, we believe we are much closer to where we want to be.

You will first notice that we have yet again redesigned the site. It much cleaner and simple in layout and we have tried to give you all the content you want in two clicks or less. You as you explore around a bit, you will notice that we now have a few different features missing in previous generations. The most obvious is the ability to leave comments on any content on the site. This site is created by fans of college football…we know that you are fans too, so talk to us, talk amongst yourselves, just talk…this site is for you!

We have also added a feature called NBL Right NOW. This is to let you know the current status of our contributors. If Eric and Randy are recording the next podcast right now…it will tell you so. That would be a great time to write a comment so that maybe your question or comment can be addressed in the episode they are recording.

We have also decided to offer premium content that will be available to only subscribers. This content will be accessible by a password. As you see now by just glancing across the site, we have temporarily password protected nearly all of our content, due to the fact that we are still deploying site updates in our live environment. You can look forward to all the content becoming available in early August.
